THE BRIEF

We were asked by interior designer Steve Gibson to supply him with very specific requirements in terms of colour, shape and size. This was based on the brief he had received from the Leicester Students union. Steve himself remembers the initial brief...

"The brief was to provide a vibrant 'meeting place' for the students without fixing anything down, as the area had to be multi-purpose, they would have to remove everything fairly swiftly for fairs and conventions." - Steve Gibson

Part of the plans which were drawn up can be seen above. This is a birds eye view drawing of two of the seating areas, taken from the original plans. One of the seating areas has two sofas and the other has four armchairs. You can see how the circular rugs help to section off each individual 'meeting place'.

UNIQUE PRODUCTS

The problem with flicking through endless product catalogues and scrolling through online stores is that it can waste hours of your time. Even when you find a product it may only bear a slight resemblance to what you actually wanted. When Steve Gibson the interior designer approached us, the rugs he required for his design were non-existent, but we soon brought them to life.

FAST SERVICE

The whole process from receiving the specifications, planning and manufacturing the products through to delivering them to Leicester University took just two weeks.

TRADE DISCOUNTED RUGS

Above all, we can offer trade discount on all products we supply to interior designers working on projects. Being a trade supplier we aim to please and this is just one way of achieving this.

HOW DID WE DEVELOP THE RUGS?

COLOUR MATCHING

We received the colour specifications based on the RAL colour chart and matched them with the correctly coloured wools.
For the balcony we matched the colour specifications of

RAL 2001 Red Orange

RAL 1003 Signal Yellow

RAL6018 Yellow Green

RAL 3001 Signal Red

"The colour coordinated rugs, chunky furniture and giant classic angle poise lamps were just a really simple but effective way of breaking the space up, creating small 'student living rooms'. The round rugs created a tight seating demise, whilst having no corners reduced the trip factor." - Steve Gibson

CUT

We then precision cut the circular rugs using the measurements provided.

WOOL LENGTH

Leicester University required a comforting shaggy rug, so we ensured the wool was exactly the right length.

MAXIMUM PRACTICALITY

In control of Fringes' interior design collaborations is Adrian Thornton. He knows the manufacturing process inside out and describes the measures taken here...

"The practicality of the rugs are just as important as the look. We knew the furniture was going to be in constant use throughout the day and that it was to be dragged around for events. For this reason we used commercial grade material with a high quality finish. We also threw in complimentary anti-slip and stain protection, as a reliable trade rug supplier we make sure we combat all the possible issues." - Adrian Thornton

WHAT WAS THE END RESULT?
